Just in time for Halloween is this wonderful antique Halloween postcard. Dating from the early 1900’s featuring a great embossed image of a victorian woman looking into a mirror while an owl watches, this postcard is in excellent condition for its age and is in unused condition. Though little known these days, the practice of various forms of “divination games” during Halloween was wildly popular in the late 19th-century and early 20th-century, which is most likely reflected in this great Halloween postacard. One of the most popular of these was a form of mirror divination, in which an unmarried woman was instructed to sit before a mirror in a darkened room on Halloween night. Supposedly if she gazed long enough, she would see a vision of her future husband reflected in the mirror. If, however, she was to die unmarried, a skull would appear instead! With a great backstory and some great vintage Halloween graphics, this image hs been widely reproduced over the years. Here is a chance to own an original at a great price!
